Our Work
Our work together will be based on a blended approach drawing on practices that track your nervous system, your beliefs, and your past experiences to better understand how these factors shape your experience of the world.
Individuals I work with tend to be highly intelligent, successful people who grew up in homes that, while loving, may not have had the capacity to offer attuned caregiving or the kind of support they needed to feel safe and connected.
To cope with this, many of us develop other ways of coping—hyperactivity, perfectionism, disordered relationships with food or exercise, porous boundaries, or insecure relationships. Often there’s a sense of disconnection—the person you want to be and the person you feel like you are after a long week of work.
That’s where we begin—recognizing the impact of your developmental experiences on your nervous system and capacity to feel safe and regulated, and inviting skills, resources, and reprocessing to increase your ability to confidently make decisions based on your highest, wisest self.
EMDR
Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence based treatment that uses bilateral stimulation, like eye movements, to reduce the vividness and emotion of trauma memories.
Safe and Sound Protocol
The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP), developed by Dr. Stephen Porges, is a non-invasive application of Polyvagal Theory designed to reduce stress and auditory sensitivity while enhancing social engagement and resilience.
Polyvagal Therapy
Polyvagal Theory focuses on what is happening in the body and the nervous system, and explains how our sense of safety, danger or life threat can impact our behavior. By tracking our own autonomic states, we can learn how to reliably regulate ourselves.
